Background of the Study

Job security refers to the assurance that employees will not easily lose their jobs, providing a sense of stability and safety (Ladi & Kolawole, 2023). It is a crucial element in determining an employee’s motivation and overall engagement within an organization. In the banking sector, where employees often face intense workloads and high-pressure environments, job security can significantly influence employees' performance, loyalty, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities (Bola & Yusuff, 2024).

Stanbic IBTC, a leading financial institution in Nigeria, operates branches across the country, including Katsina State. With a growing focus on employee welfare, understanding the influence of job security on motivation at Stanbic IBTC’s Katsina State branch is critical. Research suggests that employees who feel secure in their jobs are more likely to demonstrate greater motivation, job satisfaction, and overall productivity (Abdulkareem & Muhammad, 2023). This study aims to investigate how job security influences employee motivation at Stanbic IBTC in Katsina State, with the goal of recommending strategies for enhancing employee motivation through better job security practices.
